Moisture damaged subflooring, untreated grout, black mold, slow plumbing leaks, poor floor support from failed joists are a few things we run into that can turn into a slightly larger project than originally anticipated.
This is why Music City Shower performs a pre-construction walkthrough on every job. We remeasure and confirm your bathroom layout and color selection, check existing interior plumbing as well in the crawl space and inspect joists, exterior plumbing and flooring.
This enables us to not only prepare us for the entire scope of work but also our customers need to be informed about what is really going on in their bathrooms. This also prevents sticker shock of a higher than anticipated repair bill at the end of a job and gets everyone on the same page.
Having said that, we can perform several precautionary measures such as a moisture and water pressure check, but we truly don’t know what is behind your walls until we start our demolition process.
For example, on many older homes that have cast iron plumbing – trying to connect a modern PVC plumbing part can be impossible. Many times the interior of the cast iron has corroded to the point that it will essentially disintegrate when handled. Another would be black mold or spongy subflooring behind the interior walls as a result of a slow faucet leak that is invisible at first glance.
Despite the fact that you can never tell the full story until demolition begins, we can greatly lessen the chances of a surprise during your project by performing our preconstruction walkthrough. We do things the right way here at Music City Shower so you can rest assured that we will leave your bathroom in the best possible condition and ready for you and your family to enjoy for many years to come.
